NICE TO MEET YOU! I'M EMDASH. (ANY/ALL)

2013. San Diego, California. The Bishop's School. I was an uncouth 10th grader with an even more uncouth crush on a senior named Eamon. (I called him Eames.) We met on the student-run satire paper, The Daily Urinal, where I became one of the first two women on the team. It was there that he not only became one of my best friends, but also coined my nickname: Emdash. I was later voted off the The Daily Urinal which at the time, made me, but we bitterly laugh now.

Outside my writing career, I have professional experience teaching, interning at Nightboat Books and in the realm of art non-profits (i.e Leadership Education for Asian and Pacifics, Masakhane Center in Newark, NJ, San Diego Pride, Japanese American Cultural & Community Center and more).
